Frequently Asked Questions

Who can use your service?

Anyone who needs to get help with separation agreements, marriage contracts, cohabitation agreements, uncontested divorce, contested divorce, and negotiations and/or litigation can make the most of the services of our Mississauga family and divorce lawyers.

How much do you charge?

We charge affordable rates for all legal proceedings connected with family law matters. You can visit the page: https://www.divorcefast.ca/fees/ on our website and fill the form about 'Request Consultation' to know our rates. We’ll respond within 24 business hours.

Which areas do you serve in Ontario, Canada?

Our family lawyers and divorce lawyers serve the following Ontario regions: Mississauga, Brampton, Milton, Burlington and Oakville.

What is the difference between a quick divorce (uncontested) and a contested divorce?

An uncontested divorce is a request for divorce only with no other claims as both parties are in agreement with things such as child custody, access, and support, whereas in a contested divorce, either one or both parties are not in agreement and the matter will proceed to litigation.

Will I have to go to court?

You don't need to go to court for an uncontested divorce. For a contested divorce, you may need to appear in court, for which you will have to pay court fees, not included in the rate plans of our Ontario family lawyers.

What if I can't find my spouse?

We’ll make every effort to locate your spouse with our investigators' network and through social media. However, if we fail, we shall proceed with a 'motion to dispense' with service in court; once it gets granted, we can finalize your divorce without need of your spouse.

Do I need a separation agreement?

You don't require a separation agreement to file a divorce in Canada. Nonetheless, if you think you can benefit from drafting an agreement, you should consult one of our family lawyers for legal advice.

Can I use your service if I have children?

You can file for an uncontested divorce even if you have children. Howver, the court needs some information concerning the payment of child support and living/custody arrangements, as our divorce lawyers will need to file this information with the affidavits in court. It's always a great idea to consult one of our family lawyers available in Mississauga, Brampton, Milton, Burlington and Oakville, depending on your location in Ontario.
